The musical production Angry Birds was developed by students of Havering College and acclaimed musical writer Dougal Irvine and will be showing at The Space, Havering College, until Friday.

Audiences will be presented with the suffragette movement as never seen before, set in a mythical bird-world with a musical punk twist.

The story follows Emmeline Pea-Hen who is fighting for the right to sing, along with a brood of hacked off hens whose fight for equality is set to stun the parliament of owls.

Lecturer Simon Gray said: “It’s a musical like no other musical, it’s very angry, it’s very dark, it’s full of teenage anger.” He added: “It’s about any period where there are oppressed people.”
