The fox and the pussy-cat went out to the street - and there they sat unsure quite what to do next.

These unexpected friends were snapped by Alan Phillips as they took a break on a pavement near his home in Romford.

The two mammals sat enjoying each other’s company for several minutes before reverting to the natural order of things and going their separate ways.

This was Alan’s first sighting of the plotting pair, but who knows they may soon be off to sea in a pea green boat.
