Archant

A lorry overturned on the A13 at Ferry Lane this morning causing hours of delays for travellers in outer east London.

Transport for London (TfL) confirmed the trunk road had been closed eastbound at Marsh Way and westbound at Wennington.

And at around 12pm, about an hour after the incident, TfL Traffic News tweeted: “A13 Overturned lorry: Still shut Essexbound at Marsh Way, tbks [tailbacks] to Gale Street. Londonbound shut at Wennington with tbks to the M25.”

Traffic on the road did not return to normal until around 4pm.

The London Ambulance Service said they were called to the incident at 11am, and sent a single responder but no ambulance was required.
