The Tories have held Mawneys, taking them on to 19 elected councillors.

Newcomers Jason Frost and Dilip Patel gathered 2,028 and 1,771 votes each, while the absent Cllr Linda Trew won 1,952.

Ukip’s Ralph Battershall was extremely close, with 1,753 votes, just 18 behind Dilip Patel.

The turnout was 43.7pc, with 4,332 people voting.

A young girl has been very busy over the past few weeks raising awareness and funds for charity which is very close to her heart after her five-year-old brother was diagnosed with an extremely rare brain tumour.
