Three vacancies are about to be filled on the Essex County Football Association’s Executive Council, with nominations for suitable individuals invited to be received by the County Office on or before Tuesday, April 1.

A recruitment process is ongoing for voluntary positions with the area’s governing and developmental body. A youth representative is required for group one in the north-east of the county, while an open-age representative is needed for group two in the north-west. There is additionally a space for a countywide Women’s & Girls’ representative.

The remit of the Essex County FA’s Council is to provide a forum for debate, and approval of, any current issue relating to the control, regulation or promotion of football. It offers a means of gathering and disseminating information from all affiliated and interested parties to ensure that accumulated knowledge and expertise is preserved and fully utilised to further the game. Council members also provide appropriate representation at association events.

The role of a Council Member is three-fold: to positively represent those who have elected them to Council; when appointed to do so, sit on committees, sub-committees, working groups, disciplinary commissions and appeal boards; to act in an ambassadorial role at representative games and, when appointed, County Cup matches and other events.

Structurally, the council is organised into four geographical groups. In addition to the positions vacant, David Threadgold and Roger Crane are due for open-age re-election in group one, as are Michael Elliott (open-age) and Duncan Charlick (youth) in group two and Alec Berry in group three (south-east, open-age).

A person who has been a member of an affiliated competition or club for the last three years is permitted to become a council member, as long as they are under 65 years of age and reside in the county of Essex.

They need to be nominated to represent the group in which they participate and their nominations should be made by two members of that group. If there are more nominations in a group than vacancies, then there will be a vote.

Applications can be made by completing and returning the application form, which is available to download from www.essexfa.com, by Tuesday.
