Ryman Div 1N: Sudbury 1 Romford 3
Romford made it five wins in a row with success in sunny Suffolk yesterday.
Having beaten Waltham Abbey, Wroxham, Soham Town and leaders VCD Athletic in a six-day spell, Boro kept their fine form going with another impressive display.
Nick Reynolds put them in front after 16 minutes and Paul Clayton doubled Boro’s lead three minutes before the break.
Payton Swatman replied for the home side before the hour, but Boro sealed the points in the last minute through Tom Richardson.
And captain Jack Barry admitted it had been a tough day’s work for his side, saying: “It was a great result away to Sudbury, probably the hardest game out of the three we have had this week because they kept coming at us.
“But we did well as a team. We battled well and stuck together to see out the result and it was even better after their manager had apparently said that he had two easy games coming up.
“That shows a lot of disrespect to us, so to beat them made it even sweeter.”
Paul Martin’s men can now enjoy a three-day break before they play host to Needham Market at Ship Lane on Wednesday.
And Barry wants them to maintain the fine form that has lifted them to 11th place, adding: “This week has been a fantastic week for Romford and everyone is on a high at the minute and so we should, because we deserve it.
“I hope teams realise we are as good as anybody in this league and results have shown that.
“The coach journey home was just a typical coach journey. Everyone was singing and having a laugh with each other, including the supporters who travelled all that way.
“We were just happy we got the three points for them.”
