Ryman Div 1N: Soham Town 1 Romford 1
Romford returned from Cambridgeshire with a hard-earned point last night.
Leading scorer Nick Reynolds put Boro ahead in the 18th minute, with his 11th goal of the campaign, before Luke Stanley replied for the hosts late in the first half.
And the scoreline remained unchanged during the second period, allowing Romford to extend their unbeaten run to three matches.
Paul Martin’s men had seen their weekend meeting with Needham Market fall victim to a waterlogged pitch at Ship Lane, as they looked to build on recent successes over Redbridge and Waltham Abbey.
But a point at promotion-chasing Soham will give them encouragement for the closing weeks of the season.
Boro had raced into a 2-0 lead when the two sides met in October, only to concede three times in the second half.
But they got some reward this time and will travel to table-topping Maldon in good spirits on Saturday.
The leaders battled to a 3-2 win at lowly Ware last night, thanks to a hat-trick from James Robinson.
Grays, meanwhile, ran out 4-0 winners over Wroxham at Rush Green to remain eight points behind Maldon with three matches in hand.
Daniel East and Jack West put the hosts 2-0 up inside 13 minutes and Lee Flynn added a third before half time.
West struck again early in the second period to secure a comfortable victory.
Ilford took the lead at Brentwood, as Chinedu McKenzie netted from the penalty spot early on.
But former Hornchurch youngster Sam Bantick struck twice after the restart to put Brentwood ahead and Steve Butterworth sealed a 3-1 win in the last minute.
