Clayton: We need consistency
Too many Romford players had off-days in their 2-0 defeat against Ryman Division One North rivals Waltham Abbey at the weekend, according to captain Paul Clayton.
Boro had run out convincing 4-0 winners over Waltham Forest at Ship Lane in midweek, but saw Abs Seymour miss a first-half penalty before Tom Bruno fired Abbey in front from fully 35 yards.
Atu Ngoy saved James Peagram’s spot-kick in the second half, but Abbey sealed the points when Darelle Russell netted a second 16 minutes from time.
Clayton said: “It was exactly what I had said before. We need consistency.
“Too many players had off-days and it was three points dropped.
“If we had gone 1-0 up I think we would’ve one on to win the game.
“It was a great strike for their first goal although we were disappointed no-one closed him down and let him get his shot off.”
Boro are due to visit Erith & Belvedere tomorrow (Tuesday) and Clayton added: “We need to bounce straight back on Tuesday.”
Hull City manager Steve Bruce believes that Arsenal have the ability to win the league this season.
