Wroxham 5 Romford 0
Romford made the long trip home empty-handed after a night to forget in Norfolk.
Understrength Boro were forced to make the 250-mile round trip in midweek, after the original December 22 fixture was postponed due to snow.
And Paul Martin’s men must have feared the worst as wintry weather returned to threaten another cancellation while they were en route last night.
Romford, looking for a third successive win in Ryman One North, arrived at Trafford Park to find the pitch covered with a light layer of snow, but the match was given the go-ahead.
And the visitors found themselves behind midway through the first half as Matt Blake put the Yachtsmen ahead.
Adam Easthaugh doubled the home side’s lead in first half stoppage time and Boro saw a Jack Barry effort ruled out after the restart.
Ross Durrant rubbed salt into the wounds when putting Wroxham 3-0 up and Matt Daniels netted from the penalty spot after a Matt Toms foul on Ben Thompson.
Blake completed the nap hand with 20 minutes remaining to make a miserable evening for Martin and his men, who are due to welcome Witham to Ship Lane on Saturday.
Barry and James Ishmail both received red cards when the two sides met before Christmas, as Boro suffered a 1-0 defeat at Spa Road.
But Witham slipped to a surprising 2-1 home loss against lowly Redbridge last night.
Rob Whitnell gave them the lead midway through the first half, but Jacob Cleaver got Motormen back on terms before the break.
And Ryan Reed claimed the points for Steve Portway’s men with 13 minutes remaining.
