Romford captain Jack Barry has added his support for manager Paul Martin, after the Boro boss revealed his intention to remain at the club at the weekend.

Martin had received offers to join other clubs, but decided to remain loyal to Boro, having led them to an 11th-place finish in Ryman One North last season with 68 points, their best haul in five years at that level.

And Barry admitted it was just what they wanted to hear heading into the off-season.

He said: “It’s great news for everybody involved with the club and now everyone can relax and enjoy the summer break.

“We welcome Paul Clayton and Alex Goldstone into the backroom staff as assistants to Magic, but Clayton will still be playing.”

Barry also paid tribute to the award winners at the club’s annual presentation evening.

Abs Seymour walked off with two prizes, while Scott Truman and George Woodward were also recognised for their efforts.

Barry added: “Abs thoroughly deserved to win the Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of the Year awards as he has been outstanding this season.

“Scott Truman deserved the Managers’ Player of the Year award after all the injuries he has had in the past, to come back this season and play like he has.

“George Woodward got the Young Player of the Year and has been hit with injuries a few times, but when he has played he has been solid at left back.”

Tom Richardson won the Best Stats award after netting 16 goals last term, while Ryan Imbert took the President’s Cup and Keith Preston claimed the Gerald Gardener Clubman of the Year award on a memorable evening.

Barry added: “It was a good night overall, getting to see all the boys again and now it’s time to have a bit of a relaxing time to recharge the batteries and then get ready for pre-season.”
