Martin seeking reinforcements

Despite a poor run of form and results in recent weeks, Romford manager Paul Martin still believes his side could secure a top-10 spot in Ryman Division One North — but he is looking to freshen up his squad for the closing stages of the season.

Boro have picked up a paltry six points from their last nine games, but still find themselves comfortable in 14th place heading into their home clash with an in-form side Cheshunt at Ship Lane tomorrow (Saturday).

Martin feels things have gotten a little bit stale of late and he has been on the look-out to bring some new players into the squad in the hope of finding some form and turning results around.

The Boro boss had a look at several options during a friendly with Billericay on Monday, where his side lost out 3-1, but he has been able to draft in attacking midfielder Tyler Christian-Law from Wingate for the game against the Ambers.

“It’s never nice to lose games and I’ve been walking around now for a few weeks with a face like thunder on me,” said Martin.

“You have to take things like this on the chin and keep plugging away.

“We haven’t had the best of luck lately as well, but the aim still is a top-10 finish.

“We have dropped a few points of late and if we hadn’t done that we could’ve been looking at the play-offs.

“Tyler was someone we had a look at in pre-season, but we are hopeful of doing something before the weekend,” said Martin.

“We need to freshen it up a bit and Monday night allowed me to have a look at a few options.

“We need to have a good end to the season and if we do that a top-10 place isn’t out of the question.”
