Romford manager Paul Martin is counting down the hours until training tomorrow night.

The Boro boss has been kicking his heels during the recent cold snap, having seen Ryman Division One North games against Ilford, Maldon and Brentwood frozen off.

And he is looking forward to getting his squad back together again to prepare for Saturday’s clash with Potters Bar.

He said: “We haven’t done any training. Thursday will be the first time we’ve been together so it’s about preparing for the game.

“There won’t be any fitness work, just a normal session, with some key points on set-pieces and preparation.”

With so much football falling victim to the wintry weather in the past couple of weeks, Martin has had time on his hands to mull things over.

Boro have won only one of their last six games and lie 11 points off the play-off places and Martin added: “I’ve thought about things, but because we haven’t been able to train and do anything it’s been very difficult.

“It’s been very frustrating. Some of the lads have needed a few weeks to recover from injuries, so that’s positive, but on the other hand, you need as many games as possible so the suspended lads can get back.

“Fitness would’ve been a bigger concern if we were stuck in a relegation battle or right up in the play-offs. I think then I would’ve looked harder to try and get an indoor facility.”
