Ryman Div 1N Preview: Soham Town Rangers v Romford
Romford make the lengthy trip to Cambridgeshire tonight and manager Paul Martin may be without some key first team personnel.
Work commitments could limit Martin’s hand but he praised some members of his squad that were able to take the day off work beforehand.
Boro’s manager also revealed they are nursing knocks so could draft in some under-18’s if required.
He said: “We won’t have much rest but the squad is big enough. We have three or four knocks; Tom Richardson may be injured, Jamie Dicks is suspended, Reece Tranter has got a hamstring problem.
“Unfortunately it might not be the squad I want to take there but I think my squad is strong enough anyway.
“Eddie Hart got 90 minutes for the reserves on Saturday. I can’t turn around and pick a squad though, it is who is available to me.
“A few people have taken a day off and it shows how much commitment there is because they have taken a day off of work because they have a game, which is fantastic.
“We sometimes struggle traveling that far midweek, so there may even be a couple of under-18’s in the squad come this evening.”
Romford’s manager was pleased with the 3-0 victory over Wroxham at the weekend and admitted he will be satisfied tonight as long as his players put in a good shift.
He added: “It is a long way to go and we’ve got to make sure we don’t disappoint.
“I’ll be happy if we put a good shift and we’ve worked hard, I won’t complain about that.
“Hopefully we still give a performance and come away with three points.”
Martin felt the key to beating Wroxham was having them scouted beforehand but admitted Romford haven’t been able to do the same with Soham.
“They are a good team but we beat them earlier in the season,” he said.
“I read they are struggling with injuries so hopefully everyone can get through for us.
“Unless they are local and you haven’t got a game it is hard to scout everyone.”
