Romford manager Paul Martin was delighted to see his side avenge a 5-2 defeat to Redbridge back in November with a 5-0 thrashing of their locals rivals on Saturday afternoon.
It was Boro’s seventh consecutive win in the Ryman One North and Martin was even slightly aggrieved at the end of the match that the margin of victory wasn’t greater.
“That is massive revenge. I think we just paid the favour back but it doesn’t matter who we face the way we are playing at the moment,” a delighted Martin said.
“We went four or five up and everybody wanted to get on the scoresheet where as if we had kept it simple we might have won that by six.
“That was the only little upsetting bit I said that to the boys in the changing room but at the moment it is an easy team talk.
“It is another clean sheet and we are playing some good football aren’t we? We’ve got the confidence; we are knocking the ball around really well.”
It was Romford’s fifth clean sheet in their last seven matches and Martin was full of praise for his goalkeeper Atu Ngoy, despite not having hardly a save to make.
Martin added: “Redbridge had some good spells and had plenty of shots but nothing really threatened us.
“They are a big side and a threat from crosses which is why we went for Atu being 6ft plus and with his arms he is probably 7ft!
“I don’t think he had a shot to save but he had to do his job when the ball came into the six-yard box and he plucked everything out the air and did his job well today.”
Tom Richardson was in the goals again following his late winner on Wednesday night but Martin cheekily admitted his forward owed him a hat-trick.
Romford’s manager explained: “Tom’s just crept in around there and toed it in but he owed me a hat-trick today because I’ve just bought him a new car for work.
“He works for me so I’ve had to buy him a new company car and he picked it up before the game and I told him I wanted a hat-trick but he got two and we won 5-0 so I’ve got to be happy.”
Romford are next in action on Tuesday night as they face landlords Thurrock, they’ll be trying to make it eight wins on the spin.
