Ryman One North preview: Romford v Ware

Romford manager Paul Martin has called on his side to win three of their last four Ryman One North matches, starting with Ware at Ship Lane this evening.

Boro lost 3-1 at the weekend to Heybridge Swifts and also suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat to Cheshunt last Thursday, and Martin does not want to lose for the third consecutive time tonight.

He said: “I don’t want to lose three on the spin. I will be experimenting a bit though with these last four games and trying to learn a few things for next year.

“I want to use some other players and try some formations to see how they go.

“I’ve said to the boys our target is to get nine points from the 12 available that is my aim. I still want us to try and finish in the top ten.

“I think Ware are safe now so maybe they’ll take their foot off a bit, although they will probably want to play us now, where as last month no one did.”

Ware appeared in danger of finishing in the relegation places for quite some time earlier in the season but have turned the corner since February and won nine times, compared to just two league victories between August and January.

Although Martin admits he hasn’t seen the new-look Hertfordshire outfit, he does know about the dangers of the Blues top goalscorer Kieran Bishop.

The Romford manager also revealed that youth team player Jordan Thomas could be handed a first start tonight.

He added: “I’ve not seen them play but I keep seeing the name Bishop pop up so we’ll watch out for him.

“I don’t like watching teams play though, I prefer to let them worry about us to be honest.

“Young Jordan came on at the weekend and will probably start tomorrow in a different formation I’ll be trying out.”
