Urchins hope to end a run of five games without a victory in Cornwall on Saturday, while they draw Bishop’s Stortford in FA Trophy.

Hornchurch manager Jimmy McFarlane admits it will be a case of the walking wounded when he takes his injury-ravaged Urchins to Truro tomorrow (Saturday).

The Bridge Avenue outfit have been hit by a major injury crisis in recent weeks with several of their regular starting 11 missing.

That has seen a run of five Conference South games without a win and McFarlane was keen to bring in players after Tuesday’s 2-0 loss at home to Chelmsford City.

“I will go and talk to the directors about trying to bring someone in. I spoke to a couple earlier this week, but it’s just funds,” he said.

“We spoke to someone and they were supposed to be coming in on Monday, but he said he had changed his mind and is going to Havant because of the money.

“It is what it is at the moment, but it won’t be through a lack of trying and working hard to get it right I assure you of that. We’ll do whatever it takes.”

McFarlane will be relieved to have Tambeson Eyong and Alex Bentley back in his squad after the duo served a one-match suspension for accruing five yellow cards. Michael Spencer will also return for the clash after being unavailable on Tuesday night.

“I am going to contact Truro to see if they want to play a six-a-side,” said McFarlane jokingly. “If we turn our run around on Saturday then brilliant, but if not it will be the next game.”

On Monday, Urchins were drawn against Conference North side Bishop’s Stortford, who are managed by former Aveley boss Rod Stringer, in third qualifying round.
