Romford captain Jack Barry felt his side were good value for their Ryman One North win over Ware at Ship Lane last night.

Kazim Bishop hit the crossbar for the visitors after only two minutes, but Nick Reynolds put Boro in front on 20 minutes, heading home from a Joe Oates corner.

Ware levelled soon after as Khale Da Costa’s strong shot gave Aaron Omand no chance, but the Boro keeper produced a good save after the restart to keep the scores level.

Barry was denied by a block before Abs Seymour teed up substitute Tom Richardson for a 69th-minute winner, following defeats against Cheshunt and Heybridge in their two previous home matches.

Barry said: “It was a really good and important result coming off the back of two defeats at home, when we have been really strong at home this season.

“I know Ware are down there but they do like to play football the right way so we had our work cut out. But I thought the team dug deep.”

Boro boss Paul Martin handed a first start to young Jordan Thomas and will likely rotate his squad once again for the long trip to Dereham on Saturday, before they host Brentwood on Easter Monday.

Barry added: “It felt good to get back to winning ways, but it wasn’t by any means an easy game.

“I thought we had the best chances and put their keeper under pressure to make a couple more saves than our keeper.

“But it felt good to get the three points again and we will try and finish as high as possible in the table.”
