Ryan Imbert kept up his goalscoring record against his former clubs with another in the win against Barkingside last night.

The former Dagenham & Redbridge striker has now scored against Thurrock, Aveley and Barkingside as Boro bounced back from Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Tilbury, which ended a run of eight wins on the trot.

It was a tight opening with the visitors just edging the early chances, though neither could break the deadlock.

The hosts almost headed into their own net, while the visitors also put a free header wide, and a 25 yard shot just over.

But it was going to be another tough night for the Oakside hosts after Gabriel Onireti was shown his marching orders for a second bookable offence, as Matt Frew’s side had a man sent off for the second Monday in succession, following Richard Oxby’s red against Chatham Town.

And just on the stroke of half time, the visitors did put themselves front when Reece Tranter found a way past Chris Clark in the Barkingside goal.

Almost midway through the second period and Imbert struck to double the Romford lead, but the hosts began to create chances.

They twice hit the woodwork and also spurned other good opportunities as the Boro goal lived a charmed life.

Romford are back in action on Thursday night when they host Cheshunt at Ship Lane, while Barkingside travel to Waltham Abbey on Saturday.
