Ryman Div 1N: Heybridge 3 Romford 1
Romford saw their five-match winning run come to an end after a game of two halves at Scraley Road last night.
Boro went into the latest Ryman One North fixture in good form, having taken 11 points out of a possible 15.
But they saw Swifts make a bright start, with Ben Newson, Dave Wareham, Michael Toner and Chris Bryan all having early chances.
Abs Seymour tested Ashley Harrison from a pair of free-kicks at the other end, before Dumebi GB-Dumaka glanced a header wide of Atu Ngoy’s goal on 42 minutes.
But Boro broke the deadlock just before half time when James Ishmail struck to send the visitors into the break on top.
Their joy was shortlived, though, as Swifts got back on terms within two minutes of the restart through former Barking striker Dumaka.
Seymour fired a chance over on 52 minutes as Boro looked to regain their lead, while Dumaka’s attemped long-range lob could not trouble Ngoy.
The home side edged in front just past the hour, though, as Dumaka claimed his second goal of the night.
And Boro boss Paul Martin sent Tom Richardson and Eddie Hart on for Robbie Norris and Nick Reynolds in a double substitution in a bid to retrive a point.
The move almost paid off as Harrison denied Hart and Toner cleared a second attempt off the line to deny the visitors an equaliser.
Swifts made sure of the points five minutes from time when Jamie Guy netted their third to lift them to sixth place in the table and send Boro back down the A12 empty handed.
Martin’s men will hope to return to winning ways when they visit Burnham on Saturday for the second of four successive away matches.
They are due to travel to Brentwood on Tuesday and Waltham Abbey on Thursday in another busy week of action.
