Captain issues rallying call

Romford captain Jack Barry says his side need to bounce back quickly from their bad night out in Norfolk.

Barry had a goal disallowed in the 5-0 defeat at Wroxham in midweek and wants Boro to put it behind them when they play host to Witham at Ship Lane tomorrow (Saturday).

“We had our chances, but didn’t take them and we got punished for it,” said the disappointed Barry.

“If you don’t take your chances, that’s what happens in this league.

“We came out for the second half 2-0 down and pulled a goal back from myself and got classed as offside, which I don’t think I was.

“If that would have counted then maybe it would’ve changed the game, but the game is gone now and we move on.”

Barry was sent off for two bookable offences in Boro’s 1-0 defeat at Witham before Christmas, with team-mate James Ishmail also seeing red at the final whistle.

And he wants to set the record straight before Tilbury visit on Wednesday.

He added: “Witham are another team we are looking to get our own back on.

“Being very dominant back at their ground and not even taking a point was frustrating, but we will look to take all three points on Saturday.

“Tilbury in the week will be a very intense, physical game. They are one of our rivals and it’s always a good game against them.

“If we stick together as a team I’m sure we can get a result and there won’t be another disappointing night like Wroxham.”
