Brian Woodall’s contract with Dagenham & Redbridge has been cancelled by mutual consent.
The 26-year-old strike rose to prominence under previous boss John Still, finishing top goalscorer in the 2011-12 season, and was subsequently linked with a move away from Victoria Road.
But after coming back to pre-season for the 2012-13 campaign lacking fitness, the German-born striker has found it difficult to break into the side.
It looked as though he’d turned a corner when netting in the 2-0 win over York City on August this season, but after falling out of favour again, was charged with drink driving back in November after being found to be twice the legal limit.
The former Gresley striker was then sent on loan to Conference South side Dover Athletic, but he has spent much of the time in Kent on the substitutes’ bench.
And though he had a year and a half remaining on his contract at the club, it’s believed a deal has been agreed for his release, with manager Wayne Burnett deeming Woodall surplus to requirements.
