John Still believed the time was right for a fresh start away from Dagenham & Redbridge.

John Still admitted it was a difficult decision to leave the Daggers as he swapped Victoria Road for Luton yesterday.

Still opted to make the move to the Conference Premier club after nine years at Dagenham and admitted when Luton came calling it was tough to leave the club he and his father supported.

“It wasn’t easy because I was brought up with and played for Dagenham,” said Still.

“My dad supported Dagenham and I have managed Dagenham and I live in the area so it wasn’t easy.

“But in life you have projects, I try not to do quick fixes. I was at Barnet for five years. I always have projects and the one I had at Dagenham was important because I was also a supporter of the club.”

And he believed the time was right for him to move on.

“The right club has come along at the right time, I can’t wait,” he added.

“I was very impressed with the things the club explained to me and I thought it was the right place at the right time.”

But his start to life at Kenilworth Road didn’t go to plan as he watched on from the stands as the Hatters lost 2-0 at Braintree Town last night, with both sides reduced to 10 men.
