As the transfer window slams shut on Thursday, Daggers boss John Still is hopeful of bringing in one “attacking” player to his squad.

Still spoke of his frustration so far this month with several attempted moves falling through after being ‘blown out of the water’ in terms of finances.

“We are looking but it’s finances,” he said.

“If we can find something that we can do that is within our reach we’ll do it. There are a couple of things we would like to do but finances are not tight, they are tighter.

“Unless it is absolutely necessary I am not a fantastic lover of loans. But we’ll see, there is one or two things, we’d like to do. We have tried one or two things last week and we have been blown out of the water financially.”

But before anyone arrives at Victoria Road players may well have to depart both permanently and on loan.

“No deals are done as of yet, but we are looking to get a couple out — one permanently and one loan, while we look to get an attacking player in,” added Still.

Daggers have been linked with a move for former striker Ben Strevens, who was released by League Two promotion hopefuls Gillingham at the start of the month.

The 32-year-old had few opportunities to shine at the Priestfield Stadium this season after joining in the summer on a free transfer from Wycombe Wanderers.

One player who has gone out on loan is Alex Osborn, with the young striker rejoining Blue Square South side Billericay Town on loan for a month, having spent a spell on loan at New Lodge earlier in the season.
