To mark 125 years of the Football League, fans were asked via social networking site Twitter to vote for their best ever captain, player, season and manager.

And having released the results, Roberts, the club record appearance holder, won the best player poll with 57 per cent of the votes.

In second was striker Paul Benson on 21 per cent, followed by Craig Mackail-Smith (18 per cent) and Lee Matthews (4 per cent).

The nominees for the best ever captain were Glen Creaser – part of the 1997 FA Trophy final team, Anwar Uddin and Lee Matthews.

Uddin topped the poll with 51 per cent of the vote, followed by Matthews with 40 per cent and Creaser with nine per cent.

Unsurprisingly the best season poll was won by the 2009-10 season on 62 per cent, which saw the Daggers promoted to League One.

The Conference-winning season of 2006-07 was second with 27 per cent and the 2010-11 season in League won collected 11 per cent.

John Still took the manager poll with 60 per cent, having led the club into the Football League and then promotion to League One.

Ted Hardy was second with 26 per cent of the votes, after three seasons of fourth, fourth and third respectively, while also taking them to the FA Trophy final of 1997.

Garry Hill, master of their FA Cup run to the third round in the 2001-02 season was third with 14 per cent.
