Daggers boss Wayne Burnett feels that loanee Lawson’ D’Ath has been a breath of fresh air since joining the club, and has moved to keep the Reading youngster at Victoria Road until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has featured eight times for Burnett’s side after making the move at the end of November and though he took a little while to settle in, the Royals youngster has put in some encouraging performances of late.

And with that in mind Burnett opted to keep D’Ath at the club for the remainder of the campaign, with the Championship side again paying all his wages.

“It took him a little while to get going but that’s only natural because he hadn’t played any competitive football, only the under-21s at Reading,” said Burnett.

“He’s come in and he’s been a breath of fresh air. You can sense that he is enjoying his football and long may it continue but Reading have been fantastic.

“They have paid all his wages to this point and they going to continue to do that, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to keep him here.”

D’Ath’s signature will prove to be a boost with fellow midfielder Luke Howell awaiting results of a scan on his injured ankle yesterday (Wednesday).

“He’s had an x-ray and nothing has shown up on that, but he’ll have a scan tomorrow so we’ll see how he goes from there,” added Burnett.
