New Daggers loan signing Dominic Samuel may only have three competitive appearances under his belt but he is keen to prove he is up to the test of League Two football.

Samuel completed a one-month loan switch to Victoria Road yesterday and joins fellow Royal Lawson D’Ath at the club.

And the England under-19 international admits knowing D’Ath so well will help him settle in.

“Being around Lawson has made me feel more comfortable,” said Samuel.

“We both like to play in a similar style and I have played alongside Lawson for a while now. I can learn a lot from him about the squad and he can help me get settled in and get used to the new surroundings.”

The 19-year-old did spend a spell a month on loan at Colchester last season and featured in two games for the U’s.

The experience may have been brief, but it’s one he learnt a lot from and hopes he can add to that while with the Daggers.

“I learnt to play at Colchester under pressure and in front of a few fans as well so in a way that has helped me build my confidence,” Samuel told the club website.

“Playing in League Two will be more competitive than the under-21 games I have had so far this season and there is something to play for.

“I am sure I’ll be playing with some stronger players as well, but I am ready for the challenge.”
