Dagenham & Redbridge skipper Abu Ogogo hopes the point picked up against Scunthorpe can be the turning point of the season as they prepare to host local rivals Southend United tonight.
Points had been hard to come by of late for the Victoria Road side, with just two wins from their previous 10 games before the battling point against league leaders Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
But with the manner of that point, which saw Wayne Burnett’s side come from 3-0 down to draw, Ogogo hopes that could be the catalyst for a return to their early season form.
“Over the festive period we didn’t have the best results and we were a little inconsistent,” said Ogogo.
“In some of the games we’ve played well and not got the points that we have deserved, but to get the point today, and in the manner that we did, it can give us the momentum to push on and move up the table again.”
Wayne Burnett’s side have got the better of the Shrimpers in both meetings so far this season – a 1-0 league win and a 5-2 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory – both at Roots Hall.
And though wary that the Shrimpers will be out for revenge, Ogogo remains confident the Daggers can secure a clean sweep of victories over their local rivals.
“We finished on a high on Saturday and that’s the most important thing,” he added.
“It’s going to be a big game and they’ll be looking for revenge having already beaten them twice. Hopefully we can take the momentum from the Scunthorpe game and get a positive result on Tuesday.”
