Luke Norris’ equaliser saw Dagenham & Redbridge extend their unbeaten run to six games with a point at Bury, a place where the Daggers haven’t lost now in four matches.

After a goalless first half, Chris Hussey put the Shakers in front, but Norris’ fine solo effort, his fourth in the loan spell from Brentford, saw them make the journey home with something to show for their efforts.

Daggers boss Wayne Burnett made three changes from the team which won 2-1 at Newport County on Wednesday with Ashley Chambers, Luke Howell and Jack Connors coming in for Billy Bingham, Ade Azeez and Femi Ilesanmi respectively.

There was very little early action to talk about, though a quickly-taken free-kick put Bury on the front foot on 16 minutes and Daniel Nardiello showed the visiting defence a clean pair of heels.

But goalkeeper Chris Lewington came out and forced the experienced striker wide and his shot from an acute angle was off target .

Home skipper Craig Jones then saw a looping header land on the roof of the net before Daggers began to push on.

With little options skipper Abu Ogogo tried his luck from 25 yards with the effort deflected behind for a corner. And from Elito’s ball in, Norris flicked on for Ogogo but he fired over from six yards out.

Daggers were on top now and Norris was able to run with the ball from deep in the Bury half before seeing his curling effort just creep wide of Jensen’s near post.

However, it was David Flitcroft’s side that had the late pressure in the half and it was only Lewington who kept the score goalless.

Daggers tried to marshal the ball out for a goal kick but the hosts kept it in and the ball back in found an unmarked Clive Platt but Lewington came out well to smother, before tipping over Chris Hussey’s resulting corner.

Burnett opted to make a double half time sub with Connors, on a booking, brought off for Ilesanmi, while Ade Azeez replaced Lawson D’Ath.

And the hosts had the early defending to do in the second half as an Ogogo block set Norris free, however Jensen raced out of the Shakers goal to thwart the striker.

The Daggers then had penalty appeals waved away when Azeez was bundled over by Jensen.

But on the hour mark they found themselves behind when Danny Mayor’s ball through to Hussey down the left saw the defender waltz his way into the box before shooting low past Lewington from a tight angle.

It could have been worse a minute later when another Mayor ball in found Platt with space in the box but Lewington superbly saved, and then got up to gather the loose ball.

But the response from the visitors was almost immediate and it came from Brentford loanee Norris on 66 minutes.

He jinked his way through on goal and ended a fine run with a lovely strike into the far bottom corner past Jensen in front of the 103 travelling contingent from Dagenham.

Lewington was again forced into action as the game entered the final 20 minutes as the dangerous Hussey saw his free-kick pushed away from danger by the ‘keeper.

And when the Daggers stopper was beaten, the hosts still couldn’t find the net as substitute Andy Procter saw his thumping header from another teasing Hussey corner rattle the underside of the bar.

Another substitute Jean Louis Akpa Akpro forced an effort on goal, but Lewington was again there to deny the striker.

But despite six minutes of injury time at the end of the half, neither side could force a late winner as Bury picked up their 11th home draw of the season.
