Dagenham & Redbridge’s League Two game at Newport County HAS BEEN CALLED OFF after a 9am pitch inspection this morning.
It was understood that there was already standing water on Rodney Parade pitch yesterday, but after a preliminary pitch inspection carried out by Football League referee Keith Lawson, a decision was made to conduct a further inspection this morning.
And the result of the inspection carried out by Charles Breakspear has deemed that the match WILL NOT go ahead.
A statement from Newport County said: “After a 9am pitch inspection where both Justin Edinburgh and Wayne Burnett were the present the referee decided the pitch is unplayable and today’s game has been postponed.”
Daggers had already travelled to Wales yesterday ahead of the fixture, and a new date will be arranged in due course.
The Exiles have already had two home games called off this season, with their fixtures against Wimbledon and Oxford United also postponed due to a waterlogged Rodney Parade pitch.
