League Two: Morecambe 2 Dagenham & Redbridge 2
Rhys Murphy scored with virtually the last kick of the game to give the Daggers a point at Morecambe.
Skipper Abu Ogogo gave his side the lead after 20 minutes following a neat ball through, but the hosts levelled from Padraig Amond’s header seven minutes after the break following Ryan Williams’ball in.
Mark Hughes fired home what the hosts thought was the winner but Murphy poked home late on from the near post to ensure a point for the Daggers.
Daggers boss Wayne Burnett opted to keep faith with the same side which won 2-0 at home to Bristol Rovers.
Zavon Hines saw a shot deflected with only two minutes on the clock, but it was the hosts that went closest to breaking the deadlock when the lively Amond struck the crossbar with a flicked effort from close range.
But the Daggers took the lead with a bit of incisive play as Affy Obafemi slid the ball through for Ogogo who shot low and hard past Barry Roche to take his tally to the season to four goals.
However, for the rest of the half it was the Shrimps on the front foot and at times the Daggers goal lived a cherished life, with the hosts having a large number of corners.
And from one they should have levelled on 37 minutes when Ryan Williams’ ball in was headed over at the near post by Amond.
Defender Tony Diagne did exactly the same in the closing stages of the half before Lewington did well to divert Kevin Ellison’s fierce shot over the bar.
But little changed after the break and the hosts finally levelled on 52 minutes, as they had threatened on several occasions.
Williams’ free-kick from out wide on the left found that man Amond who glanced the ball past Lewington from six yards.
Brian Woodall came on for youngster Obafemi, but the game entered a quiet stage with neither side creating much.
But from another set piece the Shrimps went in front after 77 minutes as a Williams corner in wasn’t cleared by the Daggers and skipper Mark Hughes thumped home into the roof of the net.
Amond continued to cause havoc and forced Lewington into another save as the game entered the final 10 minutes.
The visitors had a great chance to level with three minutes remaining when Rhys Murphy’s close range header was well blocked by Roche.
But he wasn’t to be denied in the third minute of stoppage time when Hines raced to the byline and his ball into the near post was prodded in by Murphy to seal a battling point for the visitors.
