Dagenham & Redbridge’s experienced midfielder Luke Howell will not be out for as long as first feared, after scans showed no broken bones to an ankle injury,
The 27-year-old limped off during the thrilling 3-3 home draw against Scunthorpe and boss Wayne Burnett was expecting an extended spell on the treatment table.
But scans only revealed severe bruising to Howell’s ankle and he could be back in a fortnight.
Other than that, Daggers’ small squad has a clean bill of health at present and for that, Burnett has praised the work carried out by strength and conditioning coach Leon Martin.
“There has been very few muscular injuries picked up by the squad, most have been impact ones,” said Burnett.
“That shows that Leon has done a splendid job since arriving at the club in the summer. All the players have taken on board the advice he gives. It only works if they buy into it and they have done just that. He’s kept them at a great level, and long may that continue.”
