Daggers captain Abu Ogogo was frustrated after their 2-0 loss against Hartlepool United as they failed to push on from their recent impressive performances.
Wayne Burnett’s side had picked up impressive points against Scunthorpe United and Southend United of late, and backed that up with a fine 1-0 win at Rochdale last weekend.
But the opportunity to continue the impressive run in front of a 3,357 strong Victoria Road crowd went by the wayside as second half goals from Luke Williams and Andy Monkhouse ensured the Pools completed a double over the Daggers – having won 2-1 against the Daggers at Victoria Park earlier in the season.
“Saturday was very frustrating for all of us,” said Ogogo. “We went in on the back of three good results against the top sides but we couldn’t match that at the weekend.”
Chances had fallen to the Daggers in the first half with Luke Wilkinson heading against the bar and Luke Norris firing the rebound wide. And despite wasting those opportunities Ogogo felt they should have at least picked up a point at the weekend.
“We’d had a few chances in the first half and I thought if any side was going to go on and win the game then it would be us,” he added.
“The performance wasn’t good, but I felt we deserved a point. However, it wasn’t meant to be and we have to move on and we get the chance on Saturday against Burton to put it right and hopefully pick up the three points.”
