Dagenham & Redbridge are waiting to find out the extent of Dominic Samuel’s knee injury, after the loanee was stretchered off during the 1-0 loss to Fleetwood last weekend.
The 19-year-old joined on a one-month loan from Reading last Thursday, but was forced off after just 40 minutes of his debut at Victoria Road.
The striker returned to the Royals on Monday to try and find out the extent of his injury, but the swelling has yet to go down, meaning scans have been impossible so far.
And Daggers boss Wayne Burnett is looking at his options if it turns out to be the worst-case scenario, and could enter the loan market again.
“He’s gone back to Reading, but they can’t assess the injury until the swelling has gone down,” said Burnett.
“It is a shame because he has got a lot of potential and did okay on Saturday up until he got the injury.
“I have already made one or two enquiries elsewhere if he can’t return, but we’ll wait to find out what Reading can diagnose, and then we’ll go from there.”
