Dagenham & Redbridge loanee Ade Azeez insists the belief is there for the Daggers to make a late surge into the League Two play-offs ahead of tomorrow’s home game with Morecambe.
The Daggers have picked up four points from six on the road at Exeter City and Bristol Rovers to reignite their hopes of a spot in the end of season showdown.
Ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Morecambe, Wayne Burnett’s side are six points off local rivals Southend United, who hold the final play-off spot, and also have a game in hand over a Shrimpers team who haven’t won a league match since January 18.
But with the fine form the Daggers have had away from home in recent weeks, striker Azeez feels that the Daggers squad is now one full of confidence for the final 11 games of the regular season.
“The play-offs are still the dream,” said Azeez after his double helped them to a 2-1 win at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
“We believe and that’s the main thing, As long as the belief is there and we can keep on showing that on the pitch and in training everyday then who knows what can happen?”
And while in the Azeez’s opinion the Daggers haven’t always come away with the result their performances have deserved, the 20-year-old is keen for that ‘little bit extra’ which was in evidence at Bristol Rovers to be shown again this weekend against the Shrimps.
“The lads are buzzing now,” he added. “We should have won a lot of our games and we’ve been the stronger team in most of them but it’s just that little bit extra we needed and we had that tonight.
“Hopefully we can carry on like that at home now and pick up the three points against Morecambe.”
