During that period the 23-year-old has scored twice from midfield for Wayne Burnett’s side in successive weeks against Bristol Rovers and Morecambe, while also helping the Daggers remain unbeaten throughout the month.

The winner will be announced on Friday and boss Wayne Burnett believes his skipper has been instrumental in their solid start to the season, as they find themselves in 12th spot in the League Two table and still unbeaten at their Victoria Road home.

“I am really pleased for Abu. He’s driving the team forward and shown real leadership quality.”
