League Two Team news – Dagenham & Redbridge v Southend United
Daggers will be without midfielder Luke Howell for tonight’s League Two game against Southend United at Victoria Road after he came off on the stroke of half time during their 3-3 draw with Scunthorpe United on Saturday.
The 27-year-old was forced off with an ankle injury, and went to see a specialist today to find out the full extent of the damage.
Medy Elito dropped back into a midfield role at the weekend as new loan signing Luke Norris was introduced in place of Howell, but boss Wayne Burnett has decisions to make after encouraging performances off the bench from Norris, Sean Shields and Chris Dickson on Saturday.
But Billy Bingham is now fit again following a full recovery, and could be a like-for-like swap with Howell.
“At 3-0 down you make the changes almost as a last roll of the dice. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t,” said Burnett.
“Both Sean and Chris had the desired impact and it’s nice that the changes worked. They replaced decent players and it just wasn’t working on the day.”
Other than Howell’s injury, Burnett has a fully fit squad to choose from going into the game.
Southend have doubts over right backs Luke O’Neill and John White with thigh and shoulder injuries respectively.
