Dagenham & Redbridge’s Billy Bingham to get some minutes under their belt today in a development fixture with Barnet.
Bingham has been out since the end of November with a knee injury and was used as a stoppage time substitute in the 1-0 win over Rochdale at the weekend.
But the recent inclement weather, has otherwise restricted Daggers’ fringe players to just the regular training sessions rather than the Tuesday development matches which take place.
They were set to field a strong side in the match, with the likes of Matt Saunders, Brian Saah, Afolabi Obafemi, Sean Shields and Chris Dickson all included.
Burnett didn’t want to include Saah in an ideal world, but the central defender, who has been on the bench for the past two games, expressed a wish to feature.
“The squad will be pretty strong against Barnet,” said Burnett.
“A lot of players need the game time and hopefully this will help. I was relucatant to let Brian play but he came to me and said he wanted to play.
“They all want to play and that’s great to have so many players like that. The added competition this season has created that.
“Luke Wilkinson hasn’t had much of a run of late in the team and Scott Doe has also had time on the bench as well so that shows you the competition we have even though the squad is on the small side.”
