Dagenham & Redbridge defender Luke Wilkinson has been placed on the transfer list.
Wilkinson’s start to last season was delayed due to a groin injury picked up in pre-season, making his return to the team in the 3-0 defeat at Mansfield Town on August 31. The 23-year-old went on to make 25 appearances last season, but a combination of further injuries, the form of fellow centre halves Scott Doe and Brian Saah and the late season emergence of Ian Gayle, meant he spent large chunks of the campaign on the bench.
That’s likely to have played a part in his decision to ask for a move away from Victoria Road and after accepting his request, it’s now believed his name has been circulated to other clubs making them aware of his availability.
It was a far cry from the previous campaign where the former Portsmouth youngster rose to prominence, as the Daggers avoided relegation on goal difference - making 46 appearances on his way to the Player of the Year award.
Those performances reportedly saw teams higher up the Football League interested in Wilkinson last summer, but no move ever materialised.
Before making his Daggers debut in a 2-2 draw with AFC Wimbledon on September 1, 2012, he spent spells on loan with non-league sides Dartford and Boreham Wood.
