Come the end of the campaign it proved to be a pivotal one as the Daggers just held on to their Football League status.

Now the Victoria Road side make the return to St James’ Park, hoping to compound Exeter boss Paul Tisdale misery with his side failing to secure a home win since October 5 against Devon rivals Plymouth Argyle.

And Doe hopes a return to the ground which saw him net the vital winner, will also see him back in the goals.

“You can go over all the results last season and say we should have picked up a point or won games but if you look back that goal proved to be massive,” said Doe.

“It was a goal which effectively kept us up but I haven’t scored since and hopefully that can change this weekend.

“It would be nice to score but it’s not just about me, we’d love to get the three points no matter who scores.”

Daggers have played Exeter on plenty of occasions over the last few years, including when both where in the Conference.

And the record against the Grecians isn’t the great, with just three wins, including a 3-0 FA Cup win back in 2001, recorded by the Daggers.

However, Saturday’s hosts are normally perennial challenges towards the top of the division, but it’s just not happened for them so far this season as they lie in 19th spot going into the game.

But despite their lowly position, the former Weymouth man knows his side are in for a battle.

“They’ve traditionally being a very good side and we’ve always had tough games against them in the past,” said Doe.

“Their home record isn’t great but it is what it is. We can’t be complacent because of that.”

Daggers play-off aspirations have been dented of late and go into the game with just two wins in their last 10 games.

The positives going into tomorrow’s game are some improved performances, and results away from home, including a 1-0 win at Rochdale and a 1-1 draw at Burton Albion.

But Doe was part of a Daggers side which made a late push for the play-offs in the 2009-10 season, and with that in mind he’s hopeful it can happen once again.

“We have got 13 games to go and we know if we want to keep our hopes alive we have got to go on a good run and that has to start now,” he added.

“Plymouth have put a good run together and you can see they’ve propelled themselves right into contention.

“There is always one or two sides who have a late surge and that’s exactly what we did when we won promotion back in 2010.

“We arrived late on the scene and if you go into the play-offs in good form you do have momentum.

“Hopefully we can do that again but we know it will be tough.”
