Daggers end their home campaign against Northampton Town on Saturday, and boss Wayne Burnett wants to send the supporters home happy with a win.
Since the turn of the year there has not been much for the home faithful to cheer about with just two wins in their last 12 at Victoria Road.
And although disappointed by their recent home run, Burnett feels the fans deserve nothing more than three points to at least end the campaign on a high.
“We haven’t given them a lot to cheer about at home of late,” said Burnett.
“They come here and support us and I think that we need to give them a performance.”
The Cobblers are fighting for their lives to stay in the Football League and will need the three points desperately, but the Victoria Road chief feels they have a responsibility to every other side in the relegation dogfight to come out and perform.
“It will be an incredibly difficult game because they are fighting for their lives,” he added.
“We know what that feels like, we were in that position last season and it wasn’t a nice feeling. We’ve got to come and put a performance in, not only for our fans but for the other teams because we have to respect where other teams are in the league whether thet are fighting for promotion or relegation.
“The teams around Northampton will expect us to put a performance in.”
The statistics ahead of the game do not sit in the Daggers favour.
Of the seven times the two sides have met, the Victoria Road side remain winless - though did record their first ever point against the Cobblers when drawing 2-2 at Sixfields earlier in the season.
On that occasion, Luke Norris scored the opener for Northampton, before two goals in three minutes from Zavon Hines and Rhys Murphy put the Daggers in front at the break.
But Burnett’s side failed to hold on, as Ian Morris’ 62nd minute strike sealed a share of the spoils on the day.
Every home defeat for the Daggers against the Cobblers has also come by the 1-0 scoreline, with Adebayo Akinfenwa scoring the only goal the last time these two sides met at Victoria Road back on September 18, 2012.
