Team news - Dagenham & Redbridge v Morecambe
The old adage of keeping a winning team won’t ring true for Daggers as boss Wayne Burnett expects to make changes for today’s home game with Morecambe.
They picked up four points from a possible six on the road in the last week with a 2-2 draw at Exeter followed up by a 2-1 win against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
On that occasion he made two changes with Luke Wilkinson and Billy Bingham coming in for Scott Doe and Lawson D’Ath respectively.
And though delighted with the performance, Burnett feels a need for fresher legs against the Shrimps on Saturday, while he side also have another four games before the month of March ends.
“It wasn’t a fact that Scott and Lawson had played poorly at Exeter it was a fact that we needed to put fresh legs out there that are going to run around and play with intensity and tempo,” he said.
“The team will probably change again Saturday because I want players that are going to come in and go ‘Yeah we are ready, it’s my opportunity and I’ll give it everything I have’. It’s not just about the 11 on the pitch it’s about the whole group.
“Everyone is going to play a part from now until the end of the season. They’ll be one or two changes from Tuesday in the line-up and there will continue to be because we’ve still got another four games in March.”
Zavon Hines (knee) and Rhys Murphy (groin) are ruled out for the Daggers, and for Jim Bentley’s Morecambe, Andy Fleming will miss the game through suspension after picking up his 10th booking of the season in the 4-1 win over Newport County on Tuesday.
Another absentee for the Shrimps is Shaun Beeley, who will miss the 30th encounter between the two sides due to a pulled hamstring.
