Dagenham & Redbridge boss Wayne Burnett knows they have to get that winning feeling back sooner rather than later as he prepares his side for the visit of Southend United tonight.
The Daggers produced a thrilling comeback from 3-0 down against Scunthorpe United to pick up a point in a 3-3 draw and will hope to continue where they left off against the Iron when they host Phil Brown’s side at Victoria Road.
But despite the point, they haven’t won since the New Year’s Day victory over AFC Wimbledon, and Burnett knows they cannot afford to let that run continue.
“It’s a good point against Scunthorpe but reflecting on it now it was frustrating that we conceded the three goals in the manner we did,” said Burnett.
“Before that our defensive record had been good at home and you can’t afford to let in three goals either at home or away.
“We know the game will be tough though but we have to get back to winning some football matches as soon as possible.”
Daggers have emerged victorious in two previous encounters against Phil Brown’s side this season, but won’t be taking a third for granted with the Shrimpers sitting in seventh place going into the game.
“They haven’t changed it too much tactically throughout the season but as with every local derby it’s going to be a very tough encounter,” added Burnett.
“We’ve won the other two games against Southend this season but I feel both could have gone either way despite the 5-2 win against them in the JPT.
“Phil Brown has done a fantastic job so far and we are under no illusions to how tough it will be.”
