Daggers boss Wayne Burnett believes Zavon Hines has a ‘point to prove’ after finally signing for the club.
The 24-year-old was a long term target for the Victoria Road chief after he was released by League Two play-off winners Bradford City at the end of last season and featured in two pre-season friendlies against Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic for Dagenham.
But the former West Ham youngster decided at the time to try his hand elsewhere, featuring for League One duo Coventry City and MK Dons.
A deal was thought to have been agreed with the latter but no deal was agreed, which allowed the Daggers to complete his signature and the winger could go straight into the side for Saturday’s League Two clash at home to Newport County.
“We have got a very good player in Zavon,” said Burnett. “I have made no secret of my desire to bring him in several times before and I am glad he has decided to sign on.
“He has certainly got a point to prove as there is no doubt he is very talented. His ability is unquestionable and he is a good signing for us.
He added: “After miscommunications and lengthy discussions with Zavon, I am convinced that he wants to be a part of this Dagenham & Redbridge.
“He is an exciting talent with unquestionable ability and has a hunger to succeed and I feel we are getting him at a really good stage in his career.”
Hull City manager Steve Bruce believes that Arsenal have the ability to win the league this season.
