Latest news from the Essex FA
The FA and their community partners McDonald’s have announced that nominations for the annual FA Community Awards are now open.
Aiming to recognise and reward grassroots clubs, coaches and volunteers from across the country, the Essex FA are calling on local people to nominate their unsung hero for one of the eight award categories so they can be acknowledged for their commitment and achievements throughout the last year.
The categories are:
o People’s Choice Award (Outstanding Contribution to Community Football)
o The FA Charter Standard Community Club Award
o The FA Charter Standard Development Club Award
o The FA Charter Standard Club Award
o The FA Charter Standard League Award
o Volunteer of the Year Award
o Young Volunteer of the Year Award
o Coach of the Year Award
Nominations close on March 28 and the national award winners will be announced at a FA Community Awards ceremony in August before the FA Community Shield match.
Winners will be selected by a judging panel which is likely to include Sir Geoff Hurst and Sir Trevor Brooking.
Essex FA chief executive Phil Sammons is looking forward to volunteers from the area being amongst those considered for regional glory after Galleywood YFC coach Clive Draper and Euro Dagenham were singled out last year.
Sammons said: “Grassroots football is at the heart of the national game and every week across the country, people dedicate their time and energy to provide a professional, fun and rewarding football experience for the local community.
“We’re delighted Tte FA and McDonald’s have recognised these clubs and individuals with the Community Awards and believe this is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the dedication and commitment shown by clubs, coaches, players and volunteers across the UK.
“Essex has a great record for regional and national representation in these awards so we urge people to nominate. Fingers crossed we get some more finalists from Essex!”
