Romford manager Paul Martin couldn’t hide his delight after Boro secured a 2-0 win over Aveley last night at Ship Lane.

First half goals from Nick Reynolds and Ryan Imbert sealed the success over their near neighbours.

And having not played since January 19, Martin was extremely pleased with the manner of the performance.

“It’s a nice derby win with a clean sheet to boot,” said Martin.

“We could have done even better as we missed a couple of good chances in the first half before we went 2-0 up so I can’t knock the boys, they’ve been fantastic tonight.

“I think we well deserved that. I think I would have been very disappointed coming away with a draw after that performance tonight.”

First and foremost though the Boro boss was pleased to get the game on, after getting fed up of his players moaning about no matches!

“It’s frustrating because they are moaning there is no games and they are itching to play,” he added.

“So I said to them ‘Don’t go out there and disappoint me when you have all been moaning there’s no games - now you have got the chance to get 90 minutes under your belt go and take it.’ Everyone paid their dues today and they were fantastic.”

Martin reserved special praise for Jamie Dicks, even drawing comparisons between him and Chelsea centre half John Terry.

“Look at Dicko throwing his body in front of things like John Terry tonight and the determination from the other players without no money – what more can you ask for?” he added.
