Mount boss fumes
29 January 2010
MOUNTNESSING boss John Field was fumingafter his side went out of the Essex Premier Cup against Hannakins Farm on penalties.
Below-par Mount took a fifth-minute lead through Sener Suavi's header, but Russell Brooks hit back after the break to level.
Another close-range header from Barrie Fox put Mount back in front, but Matt Mint forced extra time, when both sides hit the woodwork. Hannakins kept their nerve to win a shoot-out, 5-4, after Mount skipper Jamie Lewis missed his kick.
"Only three or four players actually played well, which is never enough to win any game," said Field. "The only good thing was a couple of league results went our way."
Mount return to Premier Division action tomorrow (Saturday) as they play host to Galleywood.
UPMINSTER lost their top-of-the-table clash at Cranes United in Division Three, as Mathius Ndawula's goal gave the hosts the points and saw them take over at the summit.
Paul Jeffrey and Adam Cook both hit hat-tricks as Upminster Reserves thumped Shenfield, 10-1.
